Job Description

Job Title:  Systems Engineer, Asia Pacific

Reports to: Sr. Director, Solutions Engineering

Department: Product & Support

Garland Technology, the industry leader in delivering network products and solutions for enterprise, service providers and government agencies worldwide is seeking a self-motivated and talented Systems Engineer in Asia Pacific to join our fast-growing team.

The Systems Engineer position is responsible for handling various aspects of post-sales technical support, pre-sales technical support, and product configuration.  This is a key position that will contribute to the success of our existing customer base as well as contributing in the revenue growth for the company. This opportunity provides the ability to interact across multiple points of the customer engagement model.

 

Responsibilities

Pre-Sales Technical Support

  • Pre-sales Support: may require up to 60% travel in Asia Pacific region
    • Work with customers to determine business requirements, recommend network designs, deliver solutions, & field customer technical questions
    • Convey unique differentiators of Garland solutions to customers
    • Conduct collaborative whiteboard design sessions and produce solution diagrams
    • Translate designs into a bill of materials
  • Assist with exploratory calls for customers
  • Conduct product demo calls to explain configuration of Garland product(s)
  • Provide support at trade shows
  • Engage with channel partners to enable greater understanding and better delivery of Garland solutions

Technical Support for Customers

  • Technical phone/email support and troubleshooting assistance
  • Use online helpdesk and case management tools to manage & track all technical support issues

Product Development

  • Assist in creating and maintaining User Guides and Data Sheets
  • Convey business and market trends to product management to help establish future product enhancements
  • Test and validate current products in conjunction with produce engineering team based in US
  • Test and write use cases
  • Test product updates

 

Tech Partner Integrations

  • Research tech partner tools, including technical requirements and value proposition
  • Coordinate with tech partners to install and configure partner product(s) in Garland’s demo environment
  • Collaborate with partners to develop compelling use cases

 

Proof of Concept (POCs)

  • Evaluate, test, document, and demo POCs prior to customer purchase  
  • Determine all requirements necessary to achieve technical closure of the sales process

 

Projects

  • Write and edit technical documentation of products.
  • Collaborate with marketing on
    • training materials for end users, resellers, distributors, and technology partners
    • internal training materials for new employees on Garland products
    • video trainings for Garland’s training portal
    • clarifying technical verbiage for concepts
    • technical image creation
  • Presentations for customer visits, technical forums, events and workshops
  • Contributing author of technical and industry related topics for blogs, social media, technical forums and white papers
  • Create a library of Visio stencils for new products

 

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • 3+ years’ experience in computer networking and administration
  • Thorough understanding of L2-4 networking data standards and popular L7 protocols
  • Experience with multiple network connectivity standards, including copper and fiber
  • Familiarity with cloud and virtualization platforms and designs preferred
  • Results oriented attitude
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with sense of urgency
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience in Network Design and Network Infrastructure Design
  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Operating Systems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively by giving and receiving feedback – willingness to seek help and feedback for performance improvement and to provide positive and constructive feedback to assist others
  • Self-starter
  • Team player with ability to work under pressure
  • A degree in Information Sciences (or equivalent) desired
  • Cisco certifications preferred
  • Familiarity with Network Packet Broker solutions
  • Understanding of commonly used network security, monitoring, and performance tools
