Link Speed Synchronization
Copper Network Solutions
Challenge: Need to connect tools with a different speed than the live network
In increasingly complex networking environments, it is important to choose solutions that can automatically resolve transmission issues at the hardware level. This is particularly true when you are inserting security and monitoring devices into live networks. Any incompatibilities in transmission protocols could slow communications or prevent devices from performing properly.
Solution
Link Speed
Synchronization (LSS)
Link Speed Synchronization (LSS), included on all of Garland's copper network TAPs, automatically negotiates speed issues to ensure the best possible rate of transmission between copper-based network traffic streams and all connected devices.
The TAP uses auto-negotiation to interrogate both attached devices to find out their individual capabilities, and keeps a table of the data, automatically determining the best transmission rates for each connection.
Let’s say someone logged into the router and changed it from advertising 10/100 full duplex to 10/100/1000 full duplex. The Garland TAP’s Link Speed Synchronization function will ensure that the transmissions happen at 1000 Mbps at full duplex – all without manual intervention.
• Auto-negotiation: Automatically connects at the highest common speed on all ports.
• In synchronization mode, all ports are placed in Auto MDI/MDIX, Auto Speed and Auto Duplex mode automatically.
